Emergency Preparedness Committee
Note to Readers:
Our committee has, for numerous reasons, been inactive this past year. We plan to resume this important work in May 2025. This Emergency Action Plan is a planning document designed to aid the Town Board and citizens in identifying potential disasters/crises, planning mitigation and, when possible, preventive actions, and providing information for response and recovery.
The document is intended to be a resource for Town Board Officials in the event of disaster/crisis when immediate action is necessary. The document also includes information and a process for engaging the public in prevention and personal preparedness activities. This document is not in conflict with normal emergency procedures.
EMS services provided by South Shore Ambulance Association (SSAA) and Cornucopia Fire Department (CFD) will be dispatched by 911 as appropriate. Both SSAA and CFD operate independently and are not governed by this plan. The plan provides support of these services as requested by them and supplements required actions when disaster/crisis conditions overwhelm their capabilities.
Our major focus will be on providing information to help people being prepared for emergency situations and more importantly information to helping to avoid emergency situations.
