Harbor Commission Meeting Monday, December 4, 2023
1. Call To Order – The meeting was called to order by Chuck Perry at 7:01 pm. Members present were: Chuck Perry, Matt Lazorik, Will Tillmans, Pauline Colamatteo, Doug Becker, Jessica Resac, Dave Tillmans. Others present were Harbor Master Michael Thorson and Harbor Secretary Nancy Thorson.
2. Minutes – Did not approve because its a special meeting. 3. Conflict Of Interest – None
4. Citizen Comments – None
5. Public Hearing – None
6. Reports
A. Harbor Dredge Committee – Will and Dave drove to Duluth to attend a conference
but it was canceled. Dave will find out in the next few days when it will be rescheduled. Update will be given at the January meeting.
8. New Business
A. New Slip Rates – Pauline made motion to raise rates $5.00 Doug 2nd. Then asked what other marinas offer and what they are charging. Discussion followed. Chuck called the question it did not pass. Matt made a motion to raise rates $1.00 Jessica 2nd passed unanimously. There was discussion on the cost of the daily boat launch Pauline made a motion to raise daily boat launch to $10.00 and the season pass to $50.00 Matt 2nd passed unanimously
B. Dredging – will discuss at the January meeting.
C. Shared River Dredging Expense Proposal From Siskiwit Bay Marina – Will Tillman presented a proposal for a numerical figure Siskiwit Bay Marina would contribute to river dredging. It is based on the slip rate Halvorson Fisheries, LLC currently pays for dockage. More discussion on this proposal to follow at the next meeting.
