Town of Bell Parks and Lands Meeting Minutes

Friday, April 4, 2025 – 9:30 am @ Cornucopia Community Center

Chair Doug Becker called the meeting to order at 9:34 am.

Committee members present: Doug Becker, Gordon Anderson, Richard Dunn, Gina Emily

Absent: Greg Weiss

Others present: Steve Rudd, Judy Kerr, Judy Becker

Old Business:

• Motion to approve the March 2025 minutes by R. Dunn, seconded by D. Becker; passed.
• Budget review: D. Becker stated that the dock and picnic tables are within the 2025 budget.
• Maintenance Update:
  • Beach Bathroom Maintenance: door installation dependent on weather.
  • Swenson Pavilion and Flowing Well Kiosk Roof Repairs– D. Becker will continue to contact contractor for completion.
  • Swenson Pavilion drainage repairs – no update due to weather.
  • 2 new picnic tables delivered; in storage at the “cold storage building” near Fire Station; will be assembled there and transported to pavilion, weather permitting.
• Campground Maintenance – Porta Potty installation by May 1.
• Siskiwit Lake Boat Launch:
  • Dunn will contact Town Treasurer about paying the new dock invoice so delivery can take place on April 18. Town to install.
• Beach Signs:
  • G. Emily will also investigate quotes for 2 additional 18 X 24 signs for the Siskiwit Lake boat launch and campground about Siskiwit Lake.
• Bike Rack/Repair Station – new bike rack assembled by D. Becker; location for both rack and repair station TBD.
• Term Limits – G. Weiss stepped down. Committee recommends Gina Emily and Steve Rudd for the 2 open positions.

 New Business:

• Town Cornucopia Sign: Excel Energy will pay for a new sign and the Town relocating it. Anderson will investigate sign relocation companies and possible new sign. Much discussion about alternate location and saving old sign if a new one is ordered. Committee will seek Town Board input.
• Lost Creek / Superior Avenue Beach Signs: Town sign will not be placed at Lost Creek beach area. R. Dunn will investigate ordering an “End of Public Beach” sign for the Superior Ave Beach.
• County Outdoor Exercise Grant: S. Rudd will work with Yvette Fleming to resubmit application for 2025.
• Dunn reported that both pavilions’ picnic tables need paint. D. Becker will check paint supplies.
• Next meeting: Friday, May 2, 2025, at 9:30 am at the Community Center.
