Town of Bell Parks and Lands Meeting Minutes

Friday, February 7, 2025 – 9:30 am @ Cornucopia Community Center

Committee present: Doug Becker, Richard Dunn, Gina Emily, Gordon Anderson

Absent: Greg Weiss

Others present: Judy Kerr, Judy Becker, Amy Ogren, Paul Ehlers

Chair Doug Becker called the meeting to order at 9:38 am.

Old Business:

1. Motion to approve the November 2024 minutes by R. Dunn, seconded by G. Emily; passed.
2. Budget review: no report.
3. Maintenance Update:
   1. Beach Bathroom Maintenance:
      1. Door replacement – installation by Cliff Rantala and R. Dunn in spring. Doors and possibly the floors will need painting.
   2. Swenson Pavilion and Flowing Well Kiosk Roof Repairs– still in progress.
   3. Swenson Pavilion drainage repairs – no report.
4. Campground Maintenance – See new business.
5. Siskiwit Lake Boat Launch:
   1. Becker will arrange new dock installation before May.
6. Beach Signs:
   440. Ongoing: current quote is $440. G. Emily will investigate updating photos.
   441. Dunn: other signs are aging.
7. Community Center Backyard Lighting: no update.
8. Bike Repair Station
   1. Motion was made by D. Becker, seconded by G. Anderson to accept this gift of the station from North Coast Cycling Association; passed.
   2. Kerr requested some new bike racks for the Community Center.
9. Mobile Sauna: much discussion
   1. Motion was made by G. Emily, seconded by G. Anderson to have A. Ogren investigate new commercial campground to be reviewed at March meeting.

New Business:

1. Town New Website; J. Becker will learn new procedures.
2. Term Limits for G. Emily and G. Weiss expire in April. G. Emily may continue. Becker will contact G. Weiss and seek other recommendations.
3. Campground 2025 Maintenance: Tasha Kaseno duties to be determined.
4. Other:
   1. Andeson reported that new signs are needed on the Superior Avenue Beach to mark Town limits. Approved to proceed.
   2. Ehlers will investigate a soccer net for the Community Center.
5. Becker reported that private land along Siskiwit River is being considered by the County for purchase. No discussion.
6. Next meeting: Friday, March 7, 2025, at 9:15 am at the Community Center.
