Town of Bell Plan Commission Meeting
June 6, 2024
Town of Bell Community Center
Meeting called to order at 4:13 PM.
In attendance: Jackie Eid, Ken Roman, Nancy Moye, Jody Hipsher, John Anderson.
1. Review/Approve Prior Meeting Minutes: Eid makes motion to approve May minutes, seconded by Roman, approved unanimously.
2. Updates/Correspondence:
—Due to continued inaction on behalf of the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors regarding the development of a short-term rental licensing ordinance, the County Department of Planning and Zoning has hired a short-term rental coordinator. The Department has also modified its permitting process, but it retains the obligation to inform Towns of incoming permit applications for review and approval.
—The Commission has fully complied with the open-records request tendered to the Town in May regarding the Town’s new short-term rental ordinance.
—A senior housing preliminary planning meeting was held today, with some three dozen attendees. State and County facilitators explained how the housing-planning process will proceed during the remainder of this year. On September 26-27, there will be a multi-faceted community planning and engagement event featuring multiple presentations, workshops, potential site tours, and much more; additional details forthcoming.
—An ad-hoc website redesign committee met for the first time today and reviewed the initial draft of the home page of the Town’s new website. Committee members include Paul Ehlers, Judy Becker, Nancy Thorson, and John Anderson. The meeting was productive and lively; Jonas Heinzerling from Oxygen Imagery will take the feedback generated and make revisions while also working on first drafts of website sub-pages.
3. Review Sections 1 and 2 of Comprehensive Plan: Members reviewed their notes on the first two Plan sections. There are many sections that will require wholesale data replacement/revision. Roman has created a spreadsheet to consolidate these notes into a uniform format that will be utilized as a “master” document to identify and track needed changes. Members will review Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Plan for next month; optimally, everyone should try to provide Roman with their notes prior to the meeting so that he can update the spreadsheet for review at the meeting, and Roman recommends that Members do this at least a week prior to the meeting for integration.
4. July Meeting Date: Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 11 at 5:00 PM.
Motion to adjourn by Eid, seconded by Anderson, approved unanimously. Meeting concluded at 5:34 PM.
