Town of Bell Plan Commission Meeting
October 3, 2024

Meeting called to order at 5:03 PM.
In attendance: Jackie Eid, Ken Roman, Nancy Moye, John Anderson. Absent: Jody Hipsher. Guests: Rob Schierman, Fred Schlichting.
1. Review/Approve Prior Meeting Minutes: Moye makes motion to approve September minutes, seconded by Roman. Approved unanimously.
2. Updates/Correspondence: Eid shared a letter from the Bayfield County Administrator regarding EMS services funding for the next budgetary cycle that solicited feedback from local governments. Members expressed concern about the sufficiency of proposed funding and suggested that Eid make this an agenda item at the next Town Board meeting for review and further discussion, as the County plans to approve its next budget on October 29.
3. Lueth: Conditional Use Permit to place second residence on property: Anderson makes motion to approve the Town’s recommendation for a conditional use permit, with a provision recorded in the deed that only one residential dwelling at a time be utilized as a short-term rental. Seconded by Moye. Approved 3-0-1 (Anderson abstains).
4. Comprehensive Plan Update: Roman continues to integrate contributions from members on Plan sections and has begun to explore the Plan appendix to source updates, starting with the maps provided by Bayfield County. It would be good, if possible, to compare the questions and results of the 2009 and 2019 Comprehensive Plan community surveys. Members have until the December meeting to provide input into Roman’s master-document.
5. November Meeting Date: Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 4:00 PM.
