Hi Neighbor,

On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court invalidated the Safer at Home and Badger Bounce Back Orders and declared that such orders must be declared by the State Legislature. This is a legal issue, however, not a public health declaration that COVID-19 is no longer dangerous.

Until we receive and have a chance to review any new guidance from the Bayfield County Health Department, our Community Center procedures and schedules will remain in effect. Existing guidance for businesses of all kinds is available on the Bayfield County website.

In their May 13 press release, the Bayfield County Health Department urges residents to continue to practice physical distancing and good personal hygiene as recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the novel virus that causes the disease COVID-19. Frequent handwashing and cleaning of commonly touched surfaces is still strongly recommended at this time, as is wearing a face mask or covering when in close proximity to others in public. Limiting social interactions between different families is also recommended at this time as a way of slowing the spread of COVID-19, as is limiting travel and traveling responsibly.

More information can be found on bayfieldcounty.org on the COVID-19 tab.

Free, drive-up testing is available TODAY until 7:00 in Hayward at the Hayward Wesleyan Church, 10655 Nyman Ave. People with symptoms of COVID-19 are encouraged to get tested.

The Town Board will review any additional information during the meeting on Tuesday, May 19.
